BLUE FUTURE
SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT
➲ Recycling plays an essential role in protecting the environment and conserving natural resources. Although significant steps have been taken towards the responsible use of resources, the problem of the massive presence of microplastics in the seas and oceans, including the Black Sea, is becoming increasingly pressing.
➲ The "Nicolae Rotaru" Sports Program High School from Constanța initiated a project through which a way of communication was found regarding the fact that recycling is an essential step in combating plastic pollution and protecting marine ecosystems, including the Black Sea. Close collaboration between authorities, communities and individuals is needed to reduce the impact of microplastics on the environment and human health. Only through joint efforts can we build a cleaner and healthier future. The "Blue Future" project, focused on recycling and reducing the impact of microplastics on the Black Sea, can have significant effects on both students and the community. Through the project, solutions were identified for increasing ecological awareness, interdisciplinary learning, for the development of practical skills.
➲ The following activities were carried out within the project: beach sanitation campaign ,,Clean beaches for a blue wind”, the awareness campaign regarding waste recycling, intended for secondary school and primary school students "What you throw away today pollutes tomorrow. recycle!", symposium "Impact of microplastic pollution on the marine environment and health" and “We recycle, we create, we inspire: sustainability exhibition”. Students learned to collaborate in teams and approach complex problems, from a holistic perspective, thus developing their critical thinking skills related to environmental issues. At the end of the activities, the students created a synthesis of the information in the form of infographics and thematic posters. During the project, we collaborated with the Association for culture and education "Dali", Constanţa and the NGO "Mare Nostrum", which constantly organizes awareness and educational campaigns to inform the public about the dangers of microplastics and the importance of recycling. These partnerships contribute to the creation of effective strategies and to the mobilization of the community for concrete actions.
➲ The implementation of a project like "Blue Future" can bring significant long-term benefits, not only in terms of environmental protection, but also in the development of a more educated and responsible society.
